As parents and families trust us to support their children's education, we want to ensure that we recruit the right people to become our franchisees. We want to ensure that we're right for you, and you're right for Kumon.

The process from attending an Information Meeting, to being selected for training, can take up to two months.

If you are interested in becoming a Kumon franchisees, please take the following steps:

1. Meet the team!

Attending a Kumon Information Meeting is the first step for our franchisee recruitment team to get to know more about you and vice versa.

You will have the opportunity to learn more about Kumon, meet the people who will support you in your journey with Kumon, and ask any questions you may have about owning Kumon Education Centre.

2. Testing

After attending an Information Meeting, you will be invited to sit our mathematics and English tests. These two 30-minute tests cover a range of questions from primary to Year 9 high school standard.

As the questions test the basic arithmetic and reading comprehension skills required to instruct the Kumon Mathematics and English Programmes, it is a requirement to pass both tests in order to be considered as a potential franchisee.

Sample tests: English, maths

Check your answers: English, maths

3. Application

Applicants who pass the tests are required to complete an online Information Request before being invited to interviews. This gives you the chance to tell us about what would make you a top Kumon franchisee.

4. Interviews

Our two-stage interview process allows you to meet the people from our state offices who will be supporting you.

Each interview takes approximately 90 minutes. Candidates who successfully complete the interview process will be invited to attend our New Franchisee Training.

5. Negotiation of sale (if applicable)

If you are buying an existing Kumon Education Centre, negotiation with the outgoing franchisee can begin after successful completion of the interview process.

6. New Franchisee Training

Our New Franchisee Training is an enjoyable, interactive and intensive introduction to the day-to-day work of a Kumon franchisee. Training is held online across all locations. Trainees will first complete a self-study component. This study can be completed in your own time. We then hold online group study sessions up to 16 days. This is a great chance to meet other new trainees and consolidate the learning from your own pre-study. During this time, we also incorporate business and operations training with short meetings focusing on setting up your individual centre.

7. Signing of Franchise Agreement and Centre Opening

Once all training requirements are met and centre venue has been approved, a Franchise Agreement may be offered. New Instructors open their centres typically within 3 months of the completion of training.

Congratulations!
